TOMS: An Acquired Taste

About TOMS, from their website (toms.com): “In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers.”

I started out thinking I would never wear TOMS, they were nms. Then, a friend shared that TOMS now had wedges. I have long been on the quest for the perfect black wedge, so I thought these might be it. Well, they aren’t quite the dream I have been chasing, but they are incredibly comfortable, especially when kid chasing, and go quite well with a pair of jeans. These are next on my summer acquisition wishlist.

Next came some black canvas classics. They’re pretty much a uniform in our part of town. I love that they just slip on, but are sturdy enough for some serious time at the park or running errands.  I’m thinking the Olive pair would go similarly well with my t-shirt and jeans standard. They are definitely different than the wedges, but in a good way. They’re just shoes anyway 🙂

I get their email updates, and what did I see for the summer styles? These wonderful shoes, beckoning me back to my 80s childhood. Now I’m certain I will snag a pair, but I can’t decide pink or blue? It’s funny because either way, I’ll still feel like an 8 year old when I wear them out and about.

I’m only sorry I can’t PIP!
